UFT election voting instructions

Instructions for mail ballots

  • Your completed ballot must be received by 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28.
  • Ballots will be counted on May 29.
  • Do NOT write your name on any part of the ballot.
  1. Please read all instructions prior to voting.
  2. Candidates’ positions on the ballot were determined by a drawing.
  3. The number before the name has no electoral significance. It serves to facilitate the count.
  4. FULL SLATE VOTING. You are not required to vote for a Full Slate. If you choose to vote for a Full Slate, place an ‘X’ mark in the large box below the name of the Full Slate you choose using blue or black ink. ALL candidates who are a part of that slate will receive your vote. If you vote for a Full Slate, no other mark on the ballot will count. If you vote for a Full Slate, TEAR OFF AND RETURN THE FIRST PAGE.
  5. PARTIAL SLATE VOTING. You are not required to vote for a Partial Slate. If you choose to vote for a Partial Slate, place an ‘X’ mark in the large box below the name of the Partial Slate you choose using blue or black ink. ALL candidates who are a part of that slate will receive your vote. You may then vote for candidates not on the Partial Slate you voted for to make up the total number of candidates allowed for each position.
  6. INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATES. Completely fill in the circle to the left of the name of the candidate(s) of your choice using blue or black ink. No other marks should be made.
  7. Do not vote for more candidates than indicated. If you vote for more candidates than allowed, the section for that position will be VOID.
  8. Do not write a name on any part of the ballot. Any identifying mark will VOID your ballot.
  9. Once you have made your selections, refold your ballot and place it in the secrecy sleeve. Next, place the secrecy sleeve inside the business reply envelope and seal. You must use the business reply envelope provided. Mail your ballot as soon as possible.
  10. Your ballot will be VOID if you destroy your name and barcode on the business reply envelope. After this label is checked for eligibility against a control list, the envelope bearing your name will be removed and the secrecy sleeves will be mixed together. No one will know the identity of the voter whose ballot is inside.
  11. If you make a mistake on your ballot, you may completely cross out the voting error and clearly mark your corrected choice. DO NOT write your name or initials next to your corrected vote. You may also request a replacement mail ballot by calling Global Election Services (GES) at 877-455-9367 or email helpdesk@ voteges.com from May 8 at 9 a.m. through May 19 by noon ET. Each member must call or email personally and give their full name, ÐãÐãÖ±²¥affiliation, division, UFT ID number and a callback phone number.
  12. If a voter returns both their original mail ballot and a replacement mail ballot, the replacement ballot will count and the original will be VOID.
