Career and Technical Education
Career and technical education (CTE) high schools enable students to earn academic and technical credentials at the same time. This opens multiple pathways to success for CTE students, who upon graduation are equally prepared to pursue a four-year college degree or to immediately enter the world of work. For many students, being able to work part-time in their field while in college allows them to support themselves as they pursue a four-year degree that would have otherwise been out of their financial reach.

A cool career path
Teacher Orvil Boatswain’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning program at the Bronx Design and Construction Academy is the only program of its kind in New York City public high schools, and it regularly wins an annual statewide competition.
